How to Restore Files that were Deleted Using the hopTo App

You can delete files from any of your connected file sources directly from the hopTo app.

The file deletion operation is reversible. Below you can find instructions on how to find deleted files should this become necessary.

Restore files deleted from the PC

When deleting files from your PC using the hopTo app the files do not end app in the normal Windows "Trash Can". However, they are still available in hopTo's trash can. The below steps will guide you to gaining access to such deleted files.

  1. Locate the hopTo icon in your system tray (lower right hand corner of screen)

  2. Click the hopTo icon once to bring up the menu. Click on the 'Open Trash' option.

  3. The Trash can folder will open up containing sub-folders. Each sub-folder is named by the date on which the file was deleted.

  4. You access any of the files and restore them to their previous location or to any other location on your PC where they can become available again inside the hopTo app.

 Restore files deleted from cloud sources

The following general guidelines are correct for all the cloud file sources currently available through hopTo: Dropbox, box and Google Drive.
When deleting a file from any of these file sources using the hopTo app the file can be restored by going to the respective providers website, from which you can restore the file by going to the online "Trash" folder.

Follow these general guidelines for all cloud file sources:

  1. Access your cloud account online
  2. Locate the trash folder for the respective cloud provider
  3. Locate the file you want to restore
  4. Restore the file to its original location
